Hey remember when Barry Bonds broke Mark McGwire’s single season home run record, and the only person to greet him at home plate was the bat boy? Because his teammates hated him so much, they wouldn’t even give him props for breaking a major record? I was just thinking about that this morning while watching ESPN give Bonds his 348th consecutive hour of on-air fellatio.
Excuse the piss out of me, but Bonds is considered a “5 tool player” according to ESPN? Did I miss a meeting? Last time I checked, Bonds was a thoroughly average defensive outfielder with a terrible arm and only OK range.
And oh yeah, one other small detail, Willie Mays didn’t play in the ear of tiny ballparks, shitty expansion pitching, ridiculous sports science & weight training, and rampant steroid abuse. Instead of soft-cock pitchers like Ben Sheets, Mays had to face Bob Gibson. Minor detail to consider there.
